Course Description: This specialized course is designed to provide licensed funeral directors
and students with the knowledge and skills necessary to embalm autopsy cases with precision,
professionalism, and respect. Participants will learn practical techniques in embalming autopsy
cases and will experience step-by-step instructions for preparing their next autopsy case.
Module 1: Understanding Autopsy Procedures and Implications - Overview of the autopsy
process and its impact on embalming - Legal and ethical considerations in embalming autopsy cases
Module 2: Autopsy Case Assessment and Preparation - Techniques for assessing the condition
of the body post-autopsy - Identifying areas of trauma, incisions, and tissue loss requiring
special attention - Proper handling and positioning of the body for embalming - Selection and
usage of appropriate embalming fluids and chemicals for autopsy cases.
Module 3: Advanced Embalming Techniques for Autopsy Cases - Techniques for arterial
injection and cavity embalming in autopsy cases - Addressing challenges related to tissue loss,
organ removal, and incisions - Restorative art techniques for reconstructing damaged or missing
structures - Managing excessive fluid drainage and potential leakage issues.
By the end of this course, participants will have gained a comprehensive understanding of the
